Ft. Jefferson Dry Tortugas is one of the most spectacular sightseeing tours that you can do while in Key West! You can get out there in a number of ways. Seaplane Service out to Ft. Jefferson Dry Tortugas National Park starts at Key West International Airport. They have trips going out to the Dry Tortugas throughout the morning hours and into the early afternoon.

Space is limited and we will assist you with online reservations. They will provide you with snorkel gear free of charge and a small cooler with some cold beverages as well. Once you take off from the airport you will have the most breathtaking views of the island of Key West, the Marquesas Atoll, shipwrecks, schools of sharks, dolphin pods, sea turtles and then Fort Jefferson itself.

Landing will take place on the water and then the seaplane will taxi over to the beach of Ft. Jefferson National Park. Take the time to tour the fort and check out the gift shop for more history information about the fort and the prisoners and military personnel that was assigned there during the mid 1800’s!

Snorkeling around the island is also world-class! You will see many species of marine life and fish. I would suggest bring an underwater camera and we will have them available on our shopping page! Make sure you bring plenty of film or extra single use cameras! Half day and full day trips are available by seaplane!

High-Speed Catamaran Service is also available for those not wishing to fly. These vessels leave early in the morning with complimentary continental breakfast for the 2hour boat ride out to the Fort Jefferson Dry Tortugas National Park. Once you arrive at the fort, you will be able to take a guided and well-informed tour of the fort. Your guide will answer any questions that you may have and I even learn new things every time I take their tours!

After the guided tour, your ship’s mates will have a wonderful picnic lunch set up for you! After lunch, take the time for some snorkeling just off the beach or just catch some rays on the islands beautiful white-sand beaches! Bird watching is also a popular attraction out at the park. Many species of birds can be found all over Fort Jefferson Dry Tortugas National Park.

Camping at Ft. Jefferson is available for small entrance fees and it is recommended that you take the ferry service if you plan on bringing lots of camping equipment. Fresh water showers are available on the ferryboats but not inside the park. You may have to rough it if you plan on camping!

Don’t forget your camera and I would suggest a waterproof or underwater camera that we will have on our Shopping page! Extra rolls of film would also be a good idea to take with you along with beach towels, sunglasses, sun block and if you get seasick…. get some medicine for that too!
